Nothing like big ideas for a small space—at least that was our clients’ idea for their Massapequa, NY property. The backyard space is 35′ deep and only 70′ wide; the free-form shape and style become extremely difficult for open patios. Our approach was more of an intimate layout, making the vinyl pool the focal point. Each delicate bend in the patio created a different area, with a specific functionality in mind.

Objectives

• Create intimate spaces that function around the focal point vinyl pool
• Allow for a small lawn, but maximize the outdoor living space
• No visual obstructions to block the view of any part of the back yard
