These Freeport, NY landscape design clients were looking for an entirely new take on an above-ground pool—and required detailed plans to obtain a permit from the city before they could begin construction. The clients wanted a semi-elevated pool surrounded by a patio and our Long Island landscape design team was the first to find an attractive yet functional solution to their request. We designed the elevated pool surround and used strategically placed landscaping to help make the above-ground pool fit seamlessly and beautifully into the backyard, along with options for a shady dining area, outdoor firepit, and stoops and walkways to provide multiple access points to the home.

Objectives

• Create a custom design including an above-ground pool surrounded by an elevated paver patio
• Provide plans for city permit approval
• Seamlessly blend the above-ground pool and its necessary equipment into the natural environment of the backyard
• Incorporate an existing shed and patio into the overall design

Challenges

• Ensure the design was as beautiful and functional on our first above-ground pool project as our past in-ground pool surrounds
• Surrounding the elevated pool with a patio in a way that doesn’t distract from the natural environment
